(Dublin, Ohio) — The City of Dublin gladly welcomed nearly 100 new United States citizens from dozens of countries in a naturalization ceremony on May 2.
The City was honored to host a special session of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, with Chief Judge Algenon Marbley presiding over the ceremony at the Abbey Theater of Dublin. U.S. Judges Edmund Sargus Jr. and Sarah Morrison along with Clerk of Court Richard Nagel also oversaw the almost 100 people who took the Oath of Allegiance to become new citizens.
The group of petitioners represented 42 countries, including Venezuela, Mexico, the Philippines, Nigeria and Iraq, and ranged from 19 to 85 years old.
“Being the granddaughter of four Italian immigrants who sought citizenship in the U.S., my family and I know firsthand the importance of this challenging but life-changing process to become an American,” says Dublin Mayor Jane Fox, who shared celebratory remarks with the crowd. “We are extremely proud to host such a formative ceremony here in Dublin for our Ohio neighbors, who I hope will consider public service at some point in their journey as new Americans.”
Mayor Fox was accompanied by Vice Mayor Cathy De Rosa, Council Member Andy Keeler and City Manager Megan O’Callaghan.
